Phelan Burgoyne's new trio was formed in the winter of 2021 after the drummer and composer relocated to Florence, Italy from London. The band features two Italian rising stars; Alessandro Lanzoni on piano and Michelangelo Scandroglio on double bass. The trio have been working on original compositions of Burgoyne, alongside the songbook of the iconoclastic drummer and composer Paul Motian and his peers; pianists Keith Jarrett and Masabumi Kikuchi and bassist Charlie Haden. Expect strong grooves, mediative textures and explosive interaction from this new British / Italian trio.
